Deb Chaney is a contemporary abstract artist and teacher. Her layered mixed-media artwork is inspired by her healing journey back to her authentic self. She has been creating, exhibiting, and selling her mixed-media abstract paintings for over two decades.
Deb believes we are all artists and that being in the creative process is innately healing. She has taught basic to advanced abstract and mixed media painting to children, teenagers, and adults at Montessori and public schools, the Pacific Northwest Art Institute, Brock House, Bowen Island Arts Council, and South Delta Artist Guild, as well as online to students world-wide.
She exhibits her abstract paintings in corporate and private collections, nationally and internationally, as well as in museums, galleries, TV, and Film. Her work has been featured in The Vancouver Sun, Vancouver is Awesome, and The Georgia Strait, and she has been named by both Van City Buzz and The Culture Trip as one of the top 10 contemporary artists to watch in Vancouver.
Recently, Deb completed a large-scale public art installation, inspired by nature and creativity, in collaboration with Viuva Lamego of Portugal and composed of four 16’ x 10’ panels of ceramic 2,200 tiles for the City of North Vancouver and Adera Developments.
Deb is a contributing author to Sand in My Bra, Funny Women Write from the Road, The Little Inspiration Book, Ideas to Empower Women, and her card pack; The 68 Secrets of an Illuminated Artist: How to Stay in Your Creative Flow Despite Any Obstacle.
She loves hiking in the forest, swimming in the ocean, and playing guitar (predominantly Taylor Swift music) with friends.
