Jocelyn Hallett (Jojo for short) has been passionate about playing music since she was a youngster! A multi-instrumentalist, Jojo sings, plays piano, guitar, trumpet, and occasionally the melodica, trombone and bouzouki. Jojo was born and raised in and around Vancouver and has been involved in many a musical, theatrical and creative endeavour over the years both inside and outside of Canada. Her travels have included youth and community development work in Brazil, playing for passengers across Canada on Via Rail, and floating around Latin America (literally), playing music onboard a 53 foot sailboat.
In 2016, Jojo was thrilled to join the award-winning children’s entertainment group, The Kerplunks and recorded Lullabies For Big Eyes with this group in 2017-2018. Jojo has been involved in several musical and theatrical projects over her professional career and feels passionate about integrating this professional, performance-based experience into the musical curriculum she offers in her teaching practice.
Jojo received musical training at Capilano University and the Vancouver Community College jazz and contemporary music programs, and completed her Masters in Education at SFU.
In 2016, Jojo and her partner in music and in life, Adam, created the performance-based music program on Gabriola Island called the Muse program and they are excited to be now offering this musical experience through the Rec Society!
